(Palencia, 1510 – 2-VI-1564). También Juan de Arze. Teólogo y escritor. Canónigo de Palencia, Carlos I lo nombró teólogo imperial en la segunda etapa del Concilio de Trento (Italia, l-V-1551 – 28-IV-1552) donde se manifestó contra el humanismo de Erasmo, Le Fevre d’Etaples, Platina y Biondo. Creó una biblioteca de más de 1.500 volúmenes que hoy se conserva en el Cabildo de Palencia. Escribió numerosos tratados sobre crítica textual, exégesis y arqueología bíblica, liturgia e historia....
